A little about Darcy!
Darcy has been a CrossFit Burien regular since she started back in 2016. She shows up early, and always stays late to do a ton of important mobility and accessory work. She is a great listener, and eagerly tries to make adjustments in order to improve her movement. From working on pull-ups to over-head squats, Darcy is a completely different athlete than she was the day she walked into the door and it is 100% due to how hard she works day in and day out! We are honored to have such a dedicated and coachable athlete at CFB.
How did you hear about Crossfit Burien? I happened to drive past the location on 152nd and saw it one day while I was stopped at the traffic light. I was going to another Crossfit at the time, but when it closed, I was welcomed at Crossfit Burien (once I found their new location!)
Why do you do Crossfit? For years, people tried to get me to take up endurance sports, but I always told them I’d be better at something that was short, fast, and involved free weights. When Crossfit came to town, a friend of mine invited me to put my money where my mouth was, so I had to try it!
What are a few of your favorite memories from Crossfit Burien? Pushing the sled with Jason (FUN!) and doing burpees with Ian (NOT!)
What are some short-term goals that you have recently achieved and some long-term goals that you would like to achieve? Just recently, I increased my strict press one rep max by 5%. Long-term, I’d like to improve on some things and then participate in the Open again in 2018.
What is one piece of advice that you would pass along to a new athlete who is just starting Crossfit? Even if you don’t think you can do a movement, try the scaled version and work your way toward the Rx version.
Fill in the blanks:
My favorite WOD is…any WOD where I can do all the movements Rx and not go over the time cap and there’s no running!
My favorite food is…Pizza with anchovies when I’m in the mood.
