A little about Joel!
Tell us about yourself! I’ve made some major changes recently and crossfit is one of those new life additions for me. I try to take a few hours each week to get out to the gym in pursuit of a strong body and good health.
How did you hear about Crossfit Burien? I did an online search of gyms in the Burien area and found that Crossfit Burien was nearby and decided to check it out and am glad I made that decision.
Why do you do Crossfit? Being in good physical shape and having long term good health is important to me and to my growing family as well. I need to have a strong body to do everything I love to do and need to do and I feel that crossfit is the way to go to make that happen.
What are a few of your favorite memories from Crossfit Burien? I liked the instant crossfit community feel, which I noticed early on. I liked being pushed to quickly pace myself and to push the limits of what I can physically do. I appreciate that everyone is supportive of me and anyone else who is the last one to finish the WOD.
What are some short-term goals that you have recently achieved and some long-term goals that you would like to achieve? Short term goals would include finishing a work out of the day (WOD) in a reasonable amount of time and being able to do increase the amount of weight which I started at a few months ago. Some long-term goals include to be able to do the RX weight in each WOD, improve form, and improve time to complete workouts.
What is one piece of advice that you would pass along to a new athlete who is just starting Crossfit? Work hard play hard!
Fill in the blanks:
My favorite WOD is…Every WOD pushes me to my limits. Getting through each WOD is an accomplishment. I have seen a shirt worn that said never underestimate the WOD – that is so true.
In the summer I like to…This summer will be very different from previous summers. I’ll try to make the most of this summer with my new little guy.
I really want to travel to…My wife and I have talked about going to Patagonia to do a fly fishing trip there someday.
My ideal weekend includes…As long as I get to spend some time with my wife and son and take care of my house on the weekends right now, then I am happy. Usually when I do get out though it involves fishing.
My favorite food is…I like to barbeque – steak is usually a favorite.
