A little about Christine!

Tell us about yourself?

I am a preschool teacher during the day and an avid CrossFitter and yogi by night. I have a love for cooking and baking, especially for my friends and family. I love fitness and staying active and motivating others to stay healthy.

How did you hear about CrossFit Burien?

I heard about CrossFit Burien from Coach Allen. I started my journey of CrossFit with him as my coach and wanted to continue my journey with him and am so happy to have found such a positive community I call my second home.

Why do you do Crossfit?

I CrossFit because I love the energy from everyone I workout with. The community and camaraderie really pushes me beyond what I would normally push myself. It is also an escape from my day and a huge stress reliever. I also really love watching people hit their PRs and also love the encouragement and enthusiasm I get to hit my PRs.

What are a few of your favorite memories from Crossfit Burien?

One of my favorite memories from CrossFit Burien was signing up for the CrossFit Open for the first time after crossfitting for six years. It was so encouraging to see how many people showed up to do it or even just to come cheer everyone on.

I also really love the turn out for holiday workouts! It is so good to be around such inspiring and dedicated athletes.

What are some short-term goals that you have recently achieved and some long term goals that you would like to achieve?

One of the short-term goals I have achieved while at Burien is actively running almost every day before and sometimes after class for at least 2-3 miles and finally able to run about 5.5 miles without struggle. It was also hard for me to split jerk above 125 lbs for a really long time and now I can split jerk 145 lbs.

Long-term goals I would like to achieve: string toes to bars, get a muscle up, ring dips, full snatching 110 + lbs

What is one piece of advice that you would pass along to a new athlete who is just starting Crossfit?

Keep going every day because it’ll get easier!! It’s hard work at the beginning but never feel discouraged or compare yourself to others. Stay dedicated. Stay focused. Stay driven and just have fun!! We are all here to help each other reach our goals.
