A little about Diane!
Tell us about yourself?
Not much to tell. I work in Accounting, I CrossFit, love to read, I can be incredibly silly sometimes. I love animals and especially the fact that we have dogs at CFB. I like hiking, I’m hoping Teresea and I can go a few times this summer.
How did you hear about CrossFit Burien?
Teresea Farrell told me about this CrossFit Box she found with great coaches and athletes who were friendly and helpful and the coaches actually coached and knew what they were talking about. And then started pushing me to come.
Why do you do Crossfit?
I enjoy the camaraderie and the support and the variety.
As a girl growing up I was definitely not athletic at all. Then I joined a small gym at the end of 2012 to lose a lot of weight and found that I actually enjoyed it. But when they closed the other places we went to were cold and unfriendly. Teresea said “CrossFit” and I would never go back.
What are a few of your favorite memories from Crossfit Burien?
My first day as a member, when I walked in the door and all the coaches yelled,
“Hi Diane” and the WOD was “Diane”.
“Murph” so many people participating. It is an individual WOD, yet it felt more like a team. No one ran or walked by themselves.
What are some short-term goals that you have recently achieved and some long term goals that you would like to achieve?
I developed sciatica after caring for my mom and I can now do pushups on the floor again and sit-ups again.
Long term: pull-ups, real burpees and overhead squats.
What is one piece of advice that you would pass along to a new athlete who is just starting Crossfit?
Have fun, remember EVERYTHING can be scaled and all that is required is that you do your best (oh, and don’t die)
